i havnt really watched boxing since the mid 90s

but i just watched a youtube vid of ali , tyson on arsino hall show and it got me thinking there is no more respect in boxing , no more magic when i look back at those guys in thier primes i feel like they are machines and i put them on same pedistal as my fav fighter in mma (bj penn) cough cough but nowadays i coldnt tell you who is the champ in the heavywieght div

so my question is this why do you think the mystic and aura of these fighters isnt the same today as it was back then ? why do people not look at nowaday boxers ..i say the general public not the boxing fanatics as heroes or larger than life men as they used to?

If you haven't watched boxing since the mid-90's, how do you know there is no more respect or magic in the sport?

I stopped watching basketball after Jordan retired, basketball must be dead.

Apart from mayweather or hopkins the major fighters aren't yanks.Pac has that aura in philippines,Klits in eastern european, hatton in uk.Maybe if mayweather didn't act so childish

Nothing happened- it's just the HW division that is getting less attention in the US. The amount of fans in stadiums and buying the ppv's shows the undiminished appeal of the sport.

...If you are an outsider, then you should probably be the one to tell us.

Just because that 'aura' doesn't seem to exist here in the states in no way means it doesn't exist.

Unlike the UFC, boxing has a worldwide appeal, complete with the national pride and support that fighters like Manny Pac, Kessler and Abraham produce. You currently don't have that in MMA so using MMA as a tool for comparison simply doesn't work.

There are certain fighters in different countries from around the world that sell out a 100k arena on any given night. Tell those fans that that this 'aura' you speak of doesn't exist.
