I can admit when I'm wrong - I'm not watching UFC next weekend.
I thought I was done with boxing for good. After some robberies, Floyd Mayweather ducking. (Even though this is an admission of being wrong, I'll never change my view on Mayweather ducking Manny, but I *DO* feel Mayweather gets some unjust criticism of his actual fights)
With all the recent bullshit the UFC has been doing - Hendo not getting a contract, (Not UFC's fault) Machida retaining his title, three champions not defending their titles, I've been a little more than underwhelmed with the UFC line-up for the rest of the year.
Anyway, maybe I overlooked this fight, but watching Cotto's tapes, I can't help but feel like this has the makings to be a fight of the year candidate.
So next week when I hit up Hooters with my friends, we're going to be sitting at the table where the boxing fight is going on, rather than where the UFC is going on, because say what you will, but I could give two shits about Randy Couture fighting Brandon Vera.
That said, I think Cotto takes this and I'm a huge Pacqiao nuthugger. I just think Cotto's too big, and unlike De La Hoya, he'll fire his patented leaping forward jab and return the shots and he'll use his size to muscle Pacqiao around.
I want Pac-Man to win because I want to see him fight Mayweather, but I feel like 145 is Cotto's territory and this might be too much for Manny to handle. I also feel like people are counting Cotto out, thinking he hasn't been the same fighter. While it's true he hasn't been as dominant these past two years as he was before, I also see that the guys he fought before took more risks and broke under Cotto mentally. Cotto hasn't had easy fights these last two years, but do you really think Cotto would've looked worse against De La Hoya than Manny did?
If Cotto can stay away from Pac-man's rolling right hook and keep his range, he can gain some momentum and really pick up his offense in the later rounds.
People say Zab Judah is an indicator of Pac-man being a bigger threat to Cotto but I disagree. I might be biased, but at the time Cotto fought Judah, Judah was a serious threat and Judah's speed is comparable to or faster than Manny, especially since Manny has been slower above 140. Judah was severely under-rated and it'd not be a good idea to think Judah putting Cotto on thin ice means he has a weakness there.

Pacman is the smaller man, but the speed difference will be astounding.
I'm not saying that will definitely give Manny the win, but I will say that neither man is going to win in a walk.
I'll watch both cards, but if they were both live @ the same time, I'd be watching Pacman 100%.

Good to have you aboard, NamelessMC.
With the winner of Cotto/Pac I think it's a win-win. Because Mayweather vs either of those two would be a great fight.

Watch UFC 105 live during the day (if you can). It'll be a tape delayed broadcast in the evening.

My whole mma club is watching Pac-Cotto over ufc next weekend. It doesn't mean we don't like mma. It's just that there is no comparison in the main event. This is one of the best fights that can be made in boxing vs a mma fight no one gives a shit about. Tonight though, I watch Fedor, a fighter every mma fan should be watching. Edit- Wait a sec, is dawson Johnson tonight? Shit, now I'm torn. I'd watch fedor over Haye Valuev any day. But Johnson is always great to watch and I thought he won the last time they fought.

Well, if Fedro was fighting Brock, or even somebody with a hope in hell.. say Barnett.. maybe.
As it is, he's got it in the bag (about 95%) so why bother?
