When the question of Greatest Heavyweight of All Time comes up, there are several fighters who immediately come to my mind........

Lennox Lewis isn't one of them.......

Lennox is definately one of them, when you fight everyone in a talented era and beat them, then your top 10 material. Plus he retired as Champ.

He's not the greatest though, 1a) Joe Louis 1b) Muhammad Ali/Cassius Clay.

He hits 10. I say number 4 on my list. Well, between 4 & 8.

90 years ago, the 4th of July, 1919, Dempsey became The Man.

The Manassa Mauler remains The-Man-For-All-Seasons.

I would've made a thread commemorating the iconic fight, but my little one has an ear infection, and she is on antibiotics. Neither of us has slept well in about 4 or 5 nights.
Just don't have the time or the energy.

Tunney retired as champ after beating a withered Dempsey and Tom Heeney, who, as Bert Sugar would say "Wasn't even a household name in his own house".

Marciano retired after running through the old folks home of fading contenders.

Retirement with the belt doesn't really mean much to me. You could win a title and retire the next day if that is your want.

Lennox had a suspect chin IMHO. He barely scraped past a fading Ray Mercer and certainly had Lady Luck in his corner the night he fought Klitschko. McCall knocked his wee wee in the resin box and Rahman did the same. Rahman and McCall would'nt crack the top 25 or top 30 back in the 60's and 70's......and here Lewis is getting Ko'd by them !

Lewis was only ever beaten when he overlooked fighters.
Thats is the major issue with him,and even with his sypect chim was only knock out twice, both times coming in lighter and fitter and destroying the man.
Lennox is one of the greats but not the greatest.
are we going to say Joe Louis had a suspect chim by being KO`d twice."the major issue with Louis record is so many were part of the ¬bum a month club".
The war stopped his career as he never fought too many great heavywieghts.

Marciano biggest wins are against a 33 year old Ezzard Charles,38 Joe Walcott and a very old Joe Louis,at 5`10 and a reach of 67inches could he have competed with todays heavywieghts?

at 6"5 and having a reack of 84inch Lewis is a match for anyone ever in the ring
The major difference in him and some other fighters is his ability to get a decision win on the end of the jab the way he did david TTua or his ability to let the right hand fly and KO anyone

Jack Johnson war wagon!

I'm kind of a boxing noob, but Frasier,Foreman,Ali,these are names that come to mind when you think "of all time"...

However,it was James Toney that got me liking boxing.

Who's good in heavyweight nowadays?

Joe Louis would beat the piss out of Lennox. Terrible style matchup for the fake-Brit.
