JHR/52 Blocks has its variations. Hops part of town called it "the bum rush". Around my way if you didn't have a "fair one" we would call for a "pug". Anyone who could pug had a vast arsenal from hands to feet. We used elements from former gang members, sericemembers and martial artists. Some guys even incorporated acrobatic type moves.

On another note, my buddy likes to tell stories of pitfighting matches while he was in prison. Here is a guy who studied MA but gained a better understanding of knees and throwin' 'bows.

Now I didn't know anything about this system until I did my research. JHR has alot to do with fighting in style. I know because I was broken out of the flashiness when I was training to be a H2H instructor. Dance moves did not fly in the Marines.

Note: Almost everyday I see Meldrick Taylor hack-cabbing at the local supermarket. Damn you Richard Steele!!

What exactly does that have to do with 52 Blocks? Did he use it?

We went to middle school and we were in 9th grade math together. He would bum my sports section on a daily basis. He could not recall any of that. His speech seemed a bit slurred and he has put on weight. Back then he was one of the fastest people I had ever met. Now he looks as if he has slowed to a shuffle. Damn you Richard Steele!!

Anyway, I just viewed some footage on 52/JHR on youtube. I see some similarities to what was used when I was young. Someone has an avatar with QJ blocking Wanderlai's left-right-left combo. That was classic 52/JHR. But instead of bringing the hands down, the raised hand would come down to a hammerfist strike or to poke the eyes.

I don't remember if he used it or not. When I saw him in schoolyard fight he did alot of bobbing and weaving. Like a blur he entered and rained blows on the guy. He was a bloody mess.

Getting back to 52... Dennis Newsome also talks about the use pf headbutts, throws and different weapons. I view 52/JHR as a means of survival. It is not meant to be used in sport. But I am sure it has adaptability.

For people asking when Zab and Tyson used it. I think its was Tyson vs Bonecrusher Smith and for some reason either round 7 or 9 in Zab vs PBF sticks out in my head. I have not seen either in a while so i could be totally off.

Zab uses a few of the 52 Blocks moves at the end of the 5th round against PBF. I still cant find the Tyson vs Bonecrusher Smith fight on the internet though, and I still dont know what fight Hopkins used it in...

Just watched the Judah vs. Mayweather fight and it was at the end of the 5th round. Mayweather was the aggressor the whole round until Judah started doing 52. He started backing up, but didn't really get hit with much.
