With Fedor you have to go into the fight with a huge respect for his grappling. If you just go in there with the idea to outbox him your gonna find yourself more often than not on the losing end of the stick. Don't forget that Arlovski isn't just a boxer but also a champion sambo fighter.

Those 2 highlighted points are hypothetical "what if's"...

Nothing is certain. I can't say with certainty that Fedor will make it to the fight without getting into an automobile accident!

I am going with the odds and the odds are that Fedor will decimate any boxer in an MMA fight and conversely, a HW boxer will destroy him in a boxing match.

The same goes for Roy Jones and Anderson Silva. In their respective sport, one would kill the other.

I'll tell you one thing, if Fedor fought a good-elite boxer the way he fought AA, Fedor wouldnt have lasted past the 1st round.

He'd never fight a gifted boxer the way he did AA. AA has a good ground game and good MMA striking but a suspect chin. The best tactic would be to wait for an opening and land something big which Fedor did.

Fedor is a hard opponent to figure out because he doesn't have any real MMA weakness and can get the job done on the feet or on the ground. More options, more ways to win.

He is a very unorthodox striker, but time and time again he has beaten more technical opponents. He's fought a lot of professional kick boxers and proven that he's very difficult to fight against.

His standup is widely open for jabs and uppercuts.
By boxing rules he would be outpunched same way as Alex was.

I re-watch the Arlovski-Fedor fight and while Fedor was on his way in losing the first round, the effectiveness of Arlovski's blows were exaggerated. He missed a lot of his shots. They more or less skimmed by millimeters.

And Arlovski was a junior amateur sambo champion. He was like 14-15 when he won it. And he rarely uses his Sambo skills anyway. I wouldn't be completely surprised if he doesn't even tune it up during training. He fell in love with striking.

He doesn't work sambo at all in camp. He works traditional BJJ and wrestling but devotes 75% of his training to boxing.

His chin gets shit on too much. Fedor's far from a technical wizard but he hits pretty damn hard and so do Sylvia and Rogers for that matter. Arlovksi's chin gets MMA's version of the treatment Thomas Hearns' chin gets here. Not enough respect.

This is true. Fedor's punches have wide arcs, but the guy can punch. Is he the most devastating puncher in his division? No, but he is quick, agile, and he torques his body proper to deliver meaningful blows. He's not a monstrous puncher, but the guy can punch. The guy can damn well do anything and no part of his MMA game is weak. And he is the best transitional fighter ever. The guy can seamlessly transition from striking to ground. Eat punches and then BAM! Fucking armbar. High ring IQ and great balance.

By the way, I am psyched about Tekken 6. My favorite fighting game of all time. Yes, over the fight night series as well.

This was a nice touch...
