vargas v hopkins

instead of fighting oscar i would have liked vargas to move to 160 and fight hopkins; hopkins is the better tech and more exp fighter. I think the extra weight would have made a diff for vargas at that stage when he still had something left; i don't know how good the fight would have been, but i can guarantee it would be failry entertaining because at that point vargas was still coming to make every fight a fight.

if nothing else the press conferences would have been great; bhops would try to punk nando and u know vargas wouldnt be having none of it.

I think it'd be interesting for a while, but i'd be shocked if Vargas could keep up with him down the stretch.

BHOP by 160 pound beatdown.

Truthfully...I think BHOP would've crushed Vargas. The Tito fight really took a lot out of Vargas thanks to Jay Nady.

BHop would be far too much for Vargas at this point both in terms of weight and skill. I hope that if Hopkins only has a few fights left in him that he focuses on relevant fights.

If he takes down Calzaghe the RJJ is the real only fight I could see that is both marketable and at least somewhat relevant.

Seriously. Thats the kind of beating you dont want your 22 year old fighter to take, no matter how talented he is.

i made this point b4, vargas could have really been something special; but that fight w/tito really took years off his career....

u don't put a guy w/ vargas mentality and strategy; then put him in w/a killer in regards to off and power... Vargas has skills; but won't ever box, he always seeks to exchange or force the issue to get back at his opp instead of trying to outclass them or outbox an that is what made his fight w/tito ridiculous..cus he made it a point to fight titos fight.

not saying vargas needed to be protected; put him in w/good guys world class guys, just not killers....an that is wht they do.

i think b4 he fought bhops/after he fought tito vargas could really have put up a good fight; by this time hopkins was the slick/counter punching guy we see now and vargas still had something left to force those exchanges and put the heat on hopkins....

im sure hopkins outboxes nando, but it would be fun to watch because u would have a guy who was gonna try to fight bhops and not outbox him...

I don't putting vargas in with tito at that time was a bad idea. I think jay nady allowing the brutal beatdown continue too long was a bad idea.
