Dream Fight: Mayweather vs Whitaker

I haven't even finished writitng this one but a dream match, though more technical than exciting would be a Prime Pernell"Sweet Pea" Whitaker against this Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather.

Whitaker did the same thing PBF did 13 years ago, going from LW to JM and beating all the BEST fighters in the world.

I would have to go woth Whitaker just because he took a few more chances to land some RESPECT ME punches.

It would be interesting.
It might also be a very frustrating fight too.
Maybe not as interesting or exciting as might be hoped.

I would like to see a prime Trinidad against Mayweather.

Sweet Pea's resume from LW to WW > PBF's resume from LW to WW.

I have to think that Whitaker would take this one. He was just as fast and as slippery as PBF, seemed to keep his punch as he moved up in weight classes, and he's a southpaw. He just seems to to what floyd does now, but more effectively. his work rate per round is definetly higher.

Floyd via decision. I think Whitaker did more with less, but stylistically Floyd's quicker than anyone Pernell faced, and would give Pernell a run for his money in that department, he's definitely the harder hitter at any weight they fight at, he can take whatever Pernell would throw at him, and I just think Pernell can't exploit anything on Floyd the way he could guys like Oscar or McGirt or anyone else he fought.

I'm not saying Floyd is greater, but this matchup is more favorable to him than to Pernell.

I think it plays out very much the same anywhere from 135-154, but I'm assuming 135.

I think the heavier it goes, the more it favors whitaker. At the lighter classes, i would say floyd would have a better chance

i agree, but i still think pernell would take him at any weight. I think sweet pea is better both on the inside and out, and his defense is just as slick. He is fairly awkward too and would throw Floyd off. Pernell KO2, errr i mean UD.
