About as much as the auto companies need another bailout.

You can't fight for a pound for pound title, consistently. It defies the logic. RJJ was considered the P4P best for a long time and he fought between 160 and HW. Is he going to fight a flyweight? And his suggestion of having a weight cap, is stupid. It just so happens that right now the little guys rule the roost but, to use RJJ again, at his peak he was far and away the best boxer out there at any weight.

Boxing needs to do whatever they can to prevent being overtaken by mma. So yes, they do need a pound for pound title.

Boxing is not even close to being taken over by mma.

I would love to see how that would work...

The whole point of P4P rankings is to compare fighters who would not be able to actually fight, due to weight differences...

Who'd win in a fight between Pac man and Valuev?
Obviously Valuev as he's 3x as big, but P4P Pac man is far far far far better.

I really don't see how it would work, as it would either be essentially the heavyweight title, but with no lower limit. OR would there be some sort of system by which both fighters had to reach a weight that was the average of the 2??

In the latter, were Pac man v Valuev to happen, Pac man would have to double his weight and Valuev would have to halve his! It's not going to happen.

As the whole P4P rating system suggests, size DOES matter (A LOT). There is no way that a real P4P title could ever exist. It's complete nonsense and whoever thought of this idea needs to be found and sent back to the asylum.

P4P is one of the stupidest things ever dreamed up.
