diff between boxing fans/mma fans on sherdog

i noticed when i post in the mma forum people don't seem to analyze or breakdown fights as precisely and intelligently as people on the boxing forum; i am not saying that people don't know what they are talking about or are not skilled in the arts or not smart enough to see certain things.

But as a whole i see general statements that seem to overlook trends in a fighters game, something boxing fans don't do; we don't just go for who won, we want to know how he won, what he had probs with, what he could do, what he couldn't do, etc.

But w/mma fans its all a matter of this guy one, this guy didn't; i don't see the specific breakdowns of strategy, skills, styles, approaches or tendencies. It just simple as franklin tools leben; when by watchin hs fights u can tell that as good as franklin is he can be countered because once he gets into an off rhythm he tends to let his def become lax in regards to angles/headmovement or snap in his shots, which is why tanner/machida/crow have all dropped him. An countless others have stunned him.

Or people just say leben sucks w/out understanding the reasoning behind his approach... sure he lacks finesse and tech ability; but his knowwledge is rather sharp. An he uses it to dev his gameplan around his knowledge and ability.

ex-he knows he can take a good shot, so he can afford to come straight in; because most guys can't deal w/someone coming 4ward after a hardshot, most people are not conditioned or comfortable having to constantly move their hands to keep someone off them. Finally most people can't deal w/someone punching w/them; esp when they have mma standup skills. Not to mention the fact that lots of guys have chins/heart/toughness; but few of them have the mindset or skillset to read the right hand and counter it w/a left hook, an as much as an idiot as leben is he did it.

Point being when people here breakdown boxing matches u feel like they really know the game and the science behind it; wether the people box or not, their knowledge and familiarity is conducive to those who do.

But in the mma forum where soo many people train, their ability to asses and breakdown fights is surprisingly...i dunno basic; not everyone is that way, but alot of them are. An people take their word as gossip...intelligent or not; but in the boxing forum, if u come out ur mouth w/ignorance u get exposed and embarrassed.

why do u think that is...i understand mma has diff elements etc...but if ur an mma fan shouldn't u be able to eff and intlligently factor that into things before they comment..

wht do u think- would think most mma fighters-amateur or pro would not respect many of the opinions of the guys on that forum...

but when i breakdown or give asssesments of fighters/etc; the pros/amateurs/trainers i know resp my opinion cus i know what i am talking about and when they read the board they really resp what u guys say to, cus it is intelligent..well thought out an comes from people w/a vested interest in the art and the combatants..

thoughts-opinions

This is simply proof that boxing fans are far superior to MMA fans. MMA fans should be terrified that we cross over and set them up with great shows of picking.

I have to agree. It's crazy how badly the MMA forum has deteriorated since TUF debuted on TV.

That difference may also be due to the fact that many posters on the boxing forum are old enough to have a valid drivers license.

Seriously, though, one justification for the lack of perspective on the MMA forums is that there is such a limited history in MMA. Boxing fans don't get as overwhelmed by a guy like Wladamir Klitschko or Sam Peter the way MMA fans get on the Mirko Cro Cop or Mark Kerr bandwagons. All those guys look like unstoppable forces against their early opponents, but there is enough boxing history to know that no one is unbeatable and so educated fans reserve judgment until they've seen someone fight against multiple styles and against fighters with experience and comparable skill. 10 years from now MMA fans might be asking in the next phenom who's knocking guys out in 30 seconds is going to be able to win a fight if it goes to decision by saying "remember when we thought Vitor Belfort would never have a fight go to the second round".

Age + The MMA Forum is much larger. This forum is lucky to have 10 users at a time, unless a big fight is on.

The average MMA fight probably is around 10 minutes, the average boxing match is several times that. There is more to analyze because the ground work and some strikes aren't allowed. It isn't that one group is smarter, there are both intelligent and stupid fans of each, it's that the sample size is different IMO.

people who are posting messages on the boxing forum are for the most part , "older".
young people care more about mma nowadays , which is pretty much why...most of the messages you see on the mma forum are less "mature".

Also, most of the trolls are smart enough to jump into the MMA forum if they want to try and pass off their crap. It's a lot easier to spot a troll here than in the MMA forum which has a lot more visitors and more threads started.
