Watched this the other night and it was a real shame they let Ali fight. Just a travesty. Holmes was practically begging the ref to stop the fight.

What the hell were his trainers thinking? Ali was having a hard time hitting the speed bag during training.

I can somewhat see Dundee's point about it's not up to anyone other than the fighter to tell him when to stop, but I don't see how when it is so obvious he should stop, you should continue to help him train for fights he shouldn't be in.

How much did Holmes get paid for that? It was strickly a lose/lose situation for all involved...that fight shoulda never taken place...I felt terrible watching it

I thought I heard them say holmes received 2 million while ali received 8 million, which seems like a ton of money back then.

No one told Ali to stop because he proved time and time again he had "one fight left". Who is going to tell the greatest boxer of all time he can't do it anymore? Until he gets beat like that don't you have to believe in him?
