The Hills Have Eyes (Possible Spoilz)

Just got back from watching this.

Before I say anything about it, let me first say that the original Hills Have Eyes is my second favorite movie by Wes Craven; who was the producer of of this remake.

Alexandre Aja directed this....the only other movie by him that I have seen is "High Tension"....I did not care for High Tension, but I believe that the biggest problem I had with it was probably the fault of the Producers.

As for this movie, I actually thought it wasnt bad (coming from me, that means a lot- I am a picky bastard and movie snob)

The original movie was loosely based off of the Sawney Beane clan, an inbred family of killers who hid in the caves of Scotland.http://tarlton.law.utexas.edu/lpop/e...gate/beane.htm

this family was also used as inspiration (among other real life killers such as Ed Gein) for the family in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

It was REASONABLY faithful to the original on most points. I wouldve liked it a lot more had it not been for the rediculous "nuclear family" bullshit angle....it wouldve been nice if they didnt even tell you about that crap. Near the end of the movie there is a short monologue by one of the family, in which it gets really stupid and preachy...and some of the actions were pretty damn unrealistic as well.

Also, too much of this movie relied on jump scares. BUT when they weren't focusing on that bullshit, the movie was otherwise pretty good. There was a decent amount of Gore and Sleaze, especially for an American movie.

------------------

If you liked the original movie, you will at least think this remake wasnt too bad...a lot better than some of the remakes hollywood has been shitting out lately.

If youve never seen the first movie, and dont know shit about horror movies, you will probably think this movie is awesome, scary, gory, blah blah blah.

Go see it.

Tits.

What was so bad about the first one?

Its not one of the best movies Ive ever seen, but for a Wes Craven movie, its pretty up there.

my favorite flick of his would be Last House On The Left.

That was the first movie I had ever seen as a kid in a movie theatre (it was a double feature with Roller Boogie of all things). It's was a fucking crazy flick.

Best movies of all time no maybe up there on worse movies off all time though. Don't know if it was his first film or if he was experimenting with it but all the same it's crap. I have seen alot of horror movies an have many. What makes The hills have eyes a horror is that it is horribly bad and nothing more. You like last house on the left? then you must enjoy snuff films as well.

No need to be inflammatory.

Once again, you have said its crap...you have not elaborated.

Ive seen a shitload of horror movies too my friend, and I also own a veritable Lexicon of horror flicks.

Movies are art, and Art is subjective...you dont like it fine, thats cool....but we cant have a discussion if you dont back up your opinion.

Yeah, I liked Last House on the Left...again, this wasnt one of my favorite movies, but it was the best one I think Wes ever did (and I think THAT was his first movie, if I remember right)....

he did a good job of updating a Shakesperian Tragedy; creating a movie that cascades scene after depressive scene of unrelenting mental torment on the viewer.

The fact that the "heroine" is killed in the middle of the movie is such a betrayal to the senses....I also like the fact that even the killers cannot believe what scumbags they are.

I feel this movie was beautifully done.

I own it....not something I would watch all the time, maybe every 5 years or so.
