RIP Bob Woolmer

For all the cricket fans out there, this was unfortunate news....I hope corruption doesn't come over the Indian teams in the future like it has in Pakistan.

Pakistan: Go easy on cricket team after coach's death

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) -Pakistan's government urged the international media to go easy on its "traumatized'' cricket team after the death of coach Bob Woolmer.

The 58-year-old coach was found dead in his hotel room on March 18, a day after his team lost to Ireland in the cricket World Cup. The humiliating defeat forced Pakistan's first-round elimination in the sport's biggest event, being played in the Caribbean.

Police have not identified any suspects. Authorities said there was no sign of forced entry, suggesting Woolmer likely knew the killer or killers.

"There are lots of speculations and rumors, some of them very malicious, and we expect the media, the international media particularly, to show some sensitivity,'' Tasnim Aslam, spokeswoman for the Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said at Monday's weekly news briefing.

"Our players are already traumatized, and they have lost somebody who was very close to them, who was very dear to them,'' she said. "These speculations and rumors do not help. They aggravate their situation, and they do not help the investigations as well.''

The Pakistan team was expected to return home late Tuesday. The team was allowed to leave the island Saturday, hours after three members of the delegation - including captain Inzamam-ul-Haq - were re-questioned. Police earlier fingerprinted and took DNA samples from all team members.

Speculation within the cricket world has focused on everyone from crazed fans to a gambling mafia and disgruntled Pakistani team members. The International Cricket Council has said it will investigate whether match-fixing was a motive.

Majority of the posters are American, Americans who think cricket is an insect.
Much less care about a cricket coach ... sad as it may be no one loses sleep over this.
