Teens charged over attack on farmer

FOUR teenagers have been charged with attacking a strawberry farmer and stealing money from an honesty box at his roadside stall in Brisbane's south.

Graham Dow, who sells strawberries outside his farm near Logan, was hit on the head with a replica pistol and bitten on the arm after he confronted a gang of youths last week.
Mr Dow, 52, had installed a security camera to check on stock levels at the stall and watched as he was robbed three times by the same group last Monday.

Mr Dow was waiting for them when they returned on Thursday.

A man, 19, was today charged with three counts of stealing and one count of armed robbery whilst in company. He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A woman, 18, was charged with one count of stealing and will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on October 16.

Two boys, 14 and 16, were charged with one count each of armed robbery whilst in company and were dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act.

An honesty box is where you buy something and it is up to your honesty to put the money in the box. For example, at my work the office girl has a box with assorted snacks in it for $2each to raise money for kids born with deformed skulls. You go up and get a chocolate bar/packet of chips etc and put $2 in the box.

I've bought chocolate almonds like that and I always put the right money in. I think it's funny to fuck with people just as much as the next guy, but when people are trying to raise money for kids with disabilities or people who don't have a home, I don't think it's right to steal from them.

The closest I get to stealing is if I'm really thirsty, I'll get a water and once I run out to my car, I'll come back in and drop off the change.

Wow, I learn something new every day. I didn't realize people were that trusting. Shit like this gives me real hope for the future. Maybe it's time to go back to the laws of the olden days where they'd cut off your hand(s) for stealing. The parents of these kids also deserve a sound ass whooping for being worthless pieces of garbage.

I stayed a few hours out of Brisbane a few years ago, there was a kickarse pineapple cart off a sideroad on the way to town with an honesty box. Some dude leaves pineapples for you and asks like a dollar each, how can you deny him a buck? Napples were awesome also.
