What you don't see as much right now is the emotional toll this has taken on people. I work in the french quarter with an ex-special forces vietnam vet who's lost his wife of thirty years, his house and everything he worked for in his life. He freaked at work the other day when someone bumped into him too hard and he almost broke the guys hand, sent him to the hospital actually.
People's tensions are at such a boiling point, certain bars you go to you have about a 100% chance of getting into a fight. With hurricane season three weeks away, everyone is on edge. I know guys you wouldn't want to fight who talk about getting off work and just driving around the city and crying.
