It's awful what Hurricane Katrina did to many people, but the producers of Extreme Makeover care more about making the audience cry than they do about the actual people. It's the corniest friggin' show I've ever seen. All the stories that are told are sad and heartfelt, but since that may not be enough to get people crying, they need to add the soft music in the background. You just know the producers are coaxing these people to really pour out their emotions on camera to get the best reaction from the audience.

best reaction? there's no level of compassion, mate.

if you feel anything for those people, it's enough. crying's not a greater display of empathy than sighing or shaking your head.

he cryed, so what? people who don't cry are probably gay

Either that or they're serial killers.

I don't think you understood what I was saying in my post. I'm not in the "anti-crying" bandwagon by any means. In fact, I'm crying right now. Extreme Makeover's entire purpose is to make the viewer cry. They find a family with a horrible story and they build them the house of their dreams and everyone lives happily ever after. Everything about it is way over the top and corny. It just bothers me for some reason.

I live in Biloxi and the taping of Extreme Home Makeover or whatever was the "talk of the town". My wife knew someone on the show, but I actually didn't watch it. I'm just glad that the media finally gave some attention to Biloxi. The last year has been nothing but "Poor New Orleans, they've lost so much.." Things have gotten better here in Biloxi, but reconstruction hasn't even began yet on any of the businesses along HWY 90 (the highway that runs parallel to the ocean).
