why am I up at 5 in the goddamn morning?

I thought I'd start a log. Here's what happened this morning.

warm-up

3*5 Squats @ 95 kgs (209.47 lbs)

I'm slightly irritated at myself; the last 2 reps somehow became power good mornings. Gash.

warm-up
3*5 Bench @ 62.5 kgs (137.81 lbs)

this was good. except it's weak. this WILL change. slowly but surely.

Deadlift

1*5 105 kgs (220.5 lbs)

I love deadlifting.

1*30 20kg DB rows each arm (44.1 lbs)

I was planning to go to my first grappling class in Oldbury this evening. My bag is packed with everything I'd need. Except my contacts. Fuck.

guess next week'll have to do.

Great job. Now that the training is done focus on the REALLY important part - nutrition and recovery.

Go eat some protein.

Go on, right now.

thanks for the encouragement guys! much appreciated

@BJJViking sweet I'm deadlifting more than I thought!

@Mclure I savaged a monstrous bowl of oats an hour at 5 am, a large glass of whole milk after my last set an oat flapjack with melon 2 hours, 50 grams of whey protein at my desk mid morning mixed with whole milk and a shot of expresso i'd made in the morning. lunch was a bacon and egg sarnie, another 50 grams whey/expresso/milk shake around 4pm, and I'm off for some chicken. I know bugger all about nutrition, any advice from anyone is welcome!

@yojimbo love that movie- is starting strength. bought a squat rack last year, thought it was a good idea to do squats and milk. yeah, i know, not a good idea. I went from 14 st 7 to 17st in 6 weeks, but only squatted 55 kg for 20 at the end of that time. Got banged up in a car accident and couldn't lift forever. October last year I felt physically better and started starting strength. I was planning to get strong -hard not to lurking in the s+p every day, got to where I am now inside 4 weeks - unfortunately I got flu. two weeks later, a viral chest infection. After that a bacterial infection. Then come january I caught pneumonia, which earned a nice long stay in hospital in addition to inducing asthma. Good times. Decided I was healthly enough to lift again 4 weeks ago having found my breathing getting significantly better, after coming down from 18 st 7 back to 17 since April. that's my entire lifting career. Frankly, I'd like to lift 4 mornings a week and deadlift once a week- I will probably start 5/3/1 next week, and do it forever.

I will not die a 240lb man that never squatted 405. I will not. That's probably too much background.

yesterday i was supposed to squat press and chin. instead i took the day off, and switched my workout to today.

here's what i ended up doing-

Deadlift

1*5 60 kg
1*5 80 kg
1*3 100 kg
1*1 110 kg
1*1 125 kg
1*1 135 kg (5kg PR) 297.68 lbs
1*0 145 kg fail
1*0 145kg fail

145 didn't go more than an inch off the ground. I'm still fucked off. That girlish amount of iron isn't even 150% bodyweight.

Bench I've done 10 second static holds everytime I went in the kitchen with 62.5kg. Probably more than a dozen thru out the day. Watching the dave tate vid joe posted made me want to ensure i'm benching with the most advantageous mechanics, I figured a little drilling would do me good.

warm up

3*5 62.5kg (137.81 lbs)

Nothing like I'd planned, but this led to a pr, so it's okay.
