Good work man...If ever in NYC look me up we can go to the garden and run around the middle like we own the place and won the championship!!!! Then as we are getting thrown out we can see who runs faster it'll be a blast! Take care and be safe.

Ya I'm going to school for an ingleish degree or somethin. Hopefully by the time I'm done fighting I'll have enough brain cells left to type. So far, we're not doing so well in that aspect...

Oh and by the way, that's right, 193 punches in a round. And that's on one of my slower days.

Thu 5/15: Watched Antonio "Kid Bambalay" Cervantes against a young and amazing Wilfredo Benitez, who was soon to be known as "El Radar".
Great fight, both guys were excellent boxers of the fight-3-min-of-each-15-rounds type.
1.5m run.
Gym Time:
Got there, looked in the gym bag. No gloves. Got back in the car and drove back home. Got the gloves and drove back. Late start today.
Relatively quiet day at the gym, at least for us. No sparring, just light bags and mittwork today.
1 round ringjacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
2 rounds heavybag.
4 rounds mitts. Working on the same combos. Added a third hook today, but I haven't even used the double in sparring yet. I really need to start unloading more of these combos.
2 rounds double end
2 rounds speedbag.
2 rounds skip rope.
Conditioning:
4x10 incline med ball twistups.
3 sets pushup circuit.
Weird day for me. The stamina and the rhythm wasn't there. Felt kinda weak too, don't know if this new preworkout powder is whats doing it or if I'm just having an off day. You know that saying about how athletes are superstitious about everything? I'm back to using my old Full Throttle formula that I usually go with. Don't wanna mess with something that ain't broken. Firefox out.

Fri 5/16: Started off with 1982's Fight of The Year between Rafael "Bazooka" Limon and Bobby Chacon. Hehehe. Bazooka Limon. What a name. This was of course your classic Mexican brawl, in which both men deigned to bust the shit out of each other with hard-as-bricks exchanges in a phone booth. That's how we roll.
1.25m run.
Gym Time:
Mike beat us there, for once. Today we were gonna spar Junior! He outweighs by a good 30lbs or so. I was ready for a busted nose, and more of my great pressure skills. I felt really good today.
1 round ringjacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
Watched Liu and Jr go 3 rounds, and they were actually playing a bit of a chess game, picking and choosing their moments. Jr always looks like, and claims to, have the disposition of a brawler, but he was boxing like Liu! This was gonna be fun. I noticed he was orthodox too, so it would be my first time fighting an orthodox in a long time.
3 rounds light sparring with Jr. Of course he couldn't try to knock my head off, cuz if he did he probably would. But we moved around alot. He was waaaay faster than I thought he'd be, and more elusive as well. When he got on his bike, he took off, and I had to be on my best footwork the whole time. I had a lot of trouble getting countered, until Mike told me to start catching, and instantly I found it easier to parry and counter with the jab. As usual, I went mostly to the body, and anyways, Jr moves his head fast, so I wouldn't get much done anyway.
Things I Did Well:
-Volume. I threw nonstop all three rounds, and didn't tire out either.
-Cutting off. My lateral movements come a long way.
-Throwing double and triple jabs.
-Throwing in combo. Not the best combos, but getting them out there makes them better each time.
THings I Did Not So Well:
-Kept getting countered until I was reminded to start catching punches. Need to do more of that on my own.
-More head movement and slipping. I'm still working on it.
-Coming in. I need to be more forceful with my approach. Need to boob and weave in more.
All in all a good little session. Hope I get to work with Jr more, he was surprising to spar and fun as well.
2 rounds double end
2 rounds speed bag.
Conditioning:
4x10 ab machine.
2x10 pushup circuit.
That's all for today folks. Tanks for the continuing support, and watch out for exclusive "El Infierno" as soon as I, uh, have a fight and stuff.

Big deal. I threw 200 punches in a round yesterday also. I was shadow boxing, but still.

Tue 5/20: Watched Texas' own Rocky Juarez vs Mexico's Humberto Soto, who Juarez accused of being an "Americanized" fighter because he has the disposition of a boxer. Nevermind that Juarez is the American here. Anyway Juarez was the favorite here, and in his hometown, so it was expected that he would carry the day. Soto wasn't having it, though, and got the decision after a 12 round brawl fought mostly in the phone booth.
1.8m run.
Gym Time:
Got there, then Mike called Liu to tell him that he needed a ride to the gym from German Motors (since he drives a Beemer). So since I'm the one familiar with the seedy parts of town, I drove down Industrial Rd till I found him. Always a fun start to the day.
Half round of ringjacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
4 rounds bodysnatcher.
4 rounds mitts. Just pushing the endurance. Throwing constantly and whipping the uppercuts and hooks. I finally understand the mechanism of turning my fist over on the hook, so I'm landing it a lot harder and more easily. I was tired as hell.
2 rounds double end. Don't know what it is about today, just feel like crap.
2 rounds speedbag.
2 rounds skip rope.
Conditioning:
4x10 med ball twistups.
1 round twisting exercises (used one of those pvc pipes).
That was it, had to get going fast. Liu and I were gonna stop by the GNC franchise convention after the gym. That's right, freebie time ladies.
After I got out of the locker room, I noticed it was hot as hell in the gym, even if it was cool in the locker. Guess the wonderful Vegas triple digit heat is here, and the gym is officially a giant oven. No wonder I felt like I was dying today.
Went to the convention, met Liu's old boss from Florida, took too many shots of energy drinks, freaked out, and got tons of free crap. I like how conventions make you feel like you're someone important. All the vendors tell you wonderful things about their super-supplement, slipping you samples, all of them chanting, "Wanna place an order? Wanna place an order?" I was riding a rollercoaster of exhaustion and stimulant-induced crackheadedness, so it was all kinda surreal. I'm only now starting to come down, and it's almost 7:30. Firefox out.

Wed 5/21: Watched Cuba's next big export, Yuriorkis Gamboa take on one Darling Jimenez, so just the names on the card were entertaining enough. Actually Jimenez gave Gamboa some trouble in the fight, but he wasn't aggressive enough to take the decision from a crowd favorite. So Yuri continues his march toward his own PPV headliner.
1.6m run.
Gym Time:
1 round ringjacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
2 rounds light bag.
Got to spar Jr again today. Good god he is fast. And tricky as well. He had an arsenal of hooks that kept catching me on the right, and I had to really step on the gas to catch up to him. I did well for myself, though.
Things I Did Well:
-Come in low to the body. I got inside a lot by bending the knees and stepping in deep. Gotta follow up with the hook though.
-Head movement. Alot better today.
-Uppercuts. My right upper was quite effective today, I've mastered the twist of the hip that sends it straight up the middle. Even busted through Jr's guard a few times.
-Pace and workrate. I could have gone more than the 4 that we did, but Jr had already gone four with Liu.
-Catching and countering. Had to be told by Mike after the first, but then it caught on and I was getting quite fast at it.
-Cutting off the ring and chasing. My jabs were really useful at slowing him down.
-Changing elevation. I've learned to use my knees again, and it was helping me get out of the way of a lot of punches, I was even starting to get the roll down.
Things I Did Not So Well:
-Rolling. Took me till the last round to start effectively doing it.
-Throwing combos. I didn't manage to get more than 3 out at a time. I've got to not be so predictable.
-I was very 1-2 dependent today. More predictability that nullifies my skills.
-Coming inside. I kept darting in and out, and staying at range too much. I've gott start bobbing and weaving more in between throwing. I got better at coming in and moving in the latter rounds, but I couldn't get much done by then.
So ya, Jr is great to spar, because he forces me to be fast and on my toes at all times. Very sneaky and unpredictable fighter. Great work.
2 rounds double end.
2 rounds speedbag.
2 rounds skip rope.
Conditioning:
2x10 lat pulldowns, front and back.
2x10 leg raises.
That was it for today. Cisse gave me 10 bucks for the rope he borrowed weeks ago and never gave back. It's all good, it was too long, and when he first offered to buy it from me, I told him he could keep it, I've been meaning to get a shorter one. Yet he insisted on paying me something, and we went back and forth for a week about it. Anyhow, it's weird how gym etiquette goes sometimes. We're all strange in some way though. Firefox out.

Gamboa isn't nearly as good as his hype may lead one to believe. Darling gave him a lot of trouble. They're moving him along way too quickly, fucking Cubans get thrown to the wolves.
