Tue 5/6: Watched a supposed young prospect from Ireland, Andy Lee, vs Texas' own Brian Vera. So the first half of the fight, it actually seemed as though Lee would deliver the goods. Then Vera started to turn the situation around, and spent the better part of a whole round firing at will at Lee before the ref finally stopped it, even as Lee pushed out a last halfhearted punch. Guess he won't be facing Pavlik anytime soon.
2m run.
Gym time:
We were gonna spar today, but Mike changed his mind last minute after Liu said he wanted to work with Jr. next week. He has his reasons.
3 rounds bodysnatcher
2 rounds heavybag. (The lighter one)
3 rounds mitts with Mike. I didn't run over the weekend, so my stamina was shit today. I was gasping at the end of the first, and didn't much recover through the rest of it. I just grinted through Mike's series of hooks, rights, and uppercut combos till I saw God. Then he told me to go on speed bag.
2 rounds speed bag. My abs were burning (a sure sign that I was throwing correctly) so much that I had to concentrate on lifting my arms.
3 rounds skip rope. Got a stitch in my side.
Conditioning:
4x10 incline med ball twistups.
3x10 pushups. Nothing fancy. Saving my strength for tomorrow, when I will rule the day with my fists of lead. Firefox out.

I'm not going back and reading the previous 30 pages. Deal with it.

Wed 4/7: Today watched another young prospect, known as Kid Diamond (don't make me say his name I couldn't to save my life) from Kyrgyzstan, vs another not-as-young prospect, Nate Campbell. Kid Diamond was the favorite in this fight, but Nate was having none of it, and used a great boxer-puncher style (heavy on the puncher) to overcome Diamond by TKO. Next Campbell's slated to fight Marquez for a 135 belt, which should be an AMAZING fight, if only to see who gets busted up worse.
Roughly 1.8m run (correct me if I'm wrong Liu).
Gym Time:
No Mike today, he's in Phoenix with our Ugandan stablemate, Sharif. So Liu and I went at it for a good 4 rounds. I was kinda off today, had trouble settling into a rhythm and throwing in combo. So I don't think I was 100% today, for what reason I don't know, but here's my analysis:
Things I Did Right:
-Not being 1-2 dependent. I was throwing more combos, and using the hooks and uppers more. My left hook is coming along nicely.
-Catching punches. I'm a lot better at parrying these days, just need the head movement to catch up.
-Pressure pressure pressure. Even when I'm not 100% and getting hit over and over with hooks. Which leads me to:
Things I Did Not So Well:
-Head movement. Especially rolling with the hooks. I do this often enough on the mitts, I don't know why I don't in sparring. It's giving me headaches, tho.
-Throwing the jab, and more than one. I kept sticking out one or two, and getting countered right back.
-My stance. It was too close today. I was thinking I could afford to close my stance a little, but this did nothing for my punch form. Instead, I kept losing my balance and almost got knocked down a few times.
So ya, not one of my better seshs, but I think I did good work, and I did not stop throwing for more than a few seconds. So my work rate is strong, if I do say so.
2 rounds double end.
2 rounds speed bag.
2 rounds skip rope.
No conditioning since I had to get to work on time. My head ached from all the hooks, to remind me to move my damn head. Firefox out.

Thu 4/8: Watched the Hawk, Aaron Pryor, vs. Akio Kameda and Kid "No Age" Bambalay. Pryor put Kameda away in brutal, fitting fashion, but showed more respect to the very skilled and dangerous Bambalay, showing off the boing prowess for which the Hawk was not enough praised.
1.6m run
No gym today on account of Mike still being out of town. We trained at home, and it was a condtioning day:
2 rounds skip rope.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
50 horizontal grip pushups.
50 vertical grip pushups.
20 T-ups, counting each side as one.
30 v-sit dips.
20 power overs, counting each side as one. That sucked. I'm sure I'll be in pain all weekend. It's been a while since we've done a conditioning sesh this hard, so I definitely need to step up the conditioning somehow. I need to reintroduce my habit of doing v-ups and pushups at night.

Fri 5/9: Watched the Hawk, this time as he beat the fight out of one Lennox Blackmore, who Pryor knocked out in 2 rounds after knocking him down roughly 30 or so times. Also watched the famous Pryor/ Arguello II rematch. I'd never seen either of these two great fights, so this was a good primer for the legendary first fight.
1.6m run.
Gym Time:
Mike was back at the gym. Sharif's opponent didn't want to fight him, probably after getting word of what Sharif looks like when he's just sparring.
1 round ringjacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing.
4 rounds bag work. Focused on speed, and maintaining a good work rate, and not gassing out before:
4 rounds mitts with Mike. Showed off a little, throwing the 1-2-hook-right-repeat. Also some variations with throwing uppers and the right uppercut, which I rarely throw. Gotta get into the habit of twisting upper body more on the hooks and uppers.
2 rounds speed bag.
2 rounds skip rope.
Conditioning:
4x10 incline med ball twistups.
3x10 ab machine pyramid.
1 round twisting exercises with a pipe of some sort across the shoulders.
My shest huuuuurrrts. And my arms. Now my abs too. But I'm getting cut up, and Mike's talking about getting us fights soon, and hey, if he says I'm ready, then I'm gonna go out mutilate a mofo. Firefox out.

Diego's likely taken bigger craps than you as well. I'm not even kidding. Never overlook the Mexican digestive system.
