If you come out to california ill give you the flu, i just had it and lost 10lbs in a weekend. Great stuff for cutting weight.
How many rounds of sparring have you gotten in these past few weeks? Good luck on the fight, if i can ever get a coach to work with for more than 2 months at a time i want to compete in amatures next year.

Be careful, man, after starving yourself for a few days, water-cutting anything over 2-3 pounds is seriously difficult and draining.

Not really. Little secret about Vegas you need to know...it's a desert. Know what that means? The body goes into camel mode. It doesn't realize Vegas is an oasis, all it knows is altitude + lack of humidity = water retention. If you come to Vegas, then go to a more humid place like say, Florida, you piss every 5 seconds. That's the body letting go of the stored excess water. Water cutting in Vegas is safe and a good thing to do to remain trim, one of few places where it's alright to use mild diuretics year-round.

Is the lack of sparring because of the weight cutting?

It's more been a lack of partners for both Diego and myself. Sure we could go beat up white collar Amateurs over at Las Vegas Boxing, or any number of "everything" Gyms but what's the point of that? That's the anti-thesis of why we came to Top Rank. But now that Edgar's back, David is in town, and Mike's got a Ugandan just a little heavier than Diego, and Josh is back, things should be picking up for both of us.

Here's my impression of Diego's tentative sparring partners:
Seriously, they never show up on time. But then again who would when what you face is the kid nicknamed "Duran"...?

Wed 11/5: Watched Mayweather/Hatton Part III this morn. Not too much exciting building up to this fight, it's big but I think it's just another paycheck for these guys and each one could fight better opponents. Still, money talks, alot...

Hmm, seems you're developing quite the individual opinion on what's going on in the Fight Game. Me likey. Care to elaborate on why you feel this fight is "ho hum"...in comparison to what other ideas you'd have for these two?

Tanks for all the support guys. I'm gonna give it my all and kill that fool next Sat. It's cool that there are others out there that are interested in the journey, the pain, the boils and all else that comes with trying to become a real fighter.

I understand the political and economical draw of the fight, but I do not think that these two are the greatest challenge to each other as a fighter. Hatton always makes for an exciting fight, but his main skill is throwing hard hooks and grabbing. Both are things that Mayweather can handle easily, one of his specialties is staying out of the other guy's reach. I think a much more interesting match up would have been Mayweather vs Paul Williams, especially for the interesting height difference. For Hatton, I'm not sure in which direction he should head, but I think he could have taken a longer road to Mayweather by first fighting guys of a lesser caliber but a similar style. Still, Hatton is not the most adaptable of beings, so one can only wonder how effective a more cautious detour would have been.

Fri 12/7: Watched Tyson vs Holmes, it was my first time being able to appreciate Tyson at his peak in the late 80's. Incredible to see the large and imposing Holmes getting pushed around by a smaller killer.
3m run.
Gym time:
1 round stretching.
Half round ring jacks.
2 rounds shadowboxing. I'm supposed to spar this Ugandan kid today, but he's not here yet and Mike just walked through the door. We improvise.
3 rounds sparring with Liu. I've gotten alot better at moving my head and dodging punches, but I'm still holding back, not really putting my balls to the wall and showing what I can do. I can't explain why, but I'm always so busy thinking and trying to work on technique that I forget to fight. I've managed to find a way to block that right hook that's been such a hindrance to me in the past. That's good. I think I did good when I let my hands fly, especially in the last 30 seconds of the 3rd. But my stamina failed me, and I was unable to go another round. It was a combination of cutting weight, not yet being used to my new, bigger mouthpiece, and not controlling my breathing and energy in the ring. I have to overcome these before the fight, or I'm gonna gas out and make a fool of myself.
3 rounds speedbag. Doing good these days, but even this tries my stamina after the sparring. Mike tells me to skip the rope and do my situps.
Conditioning:
3 sets ab maching pyramid.
3x10 twist-ups. Last set with impact resistance from Liu.
10 hindu pushups. That's all I can manage today.
I've gotta get my diet under control. I've obviously been undereating, or else I wouldn't feel so crappy in the gym. I've been adjusting my eating habits, and I feel better a day later, and I've lost another pound. Now I'm either at 153 or 156, depending on which scale I'm on. I'm really hoping for the former. I'll know for sure when I get my physical next week, but come hell or high water, I WILL MAKE WEIGHT NEXT SATURDAY. Through god and the South Beach diet all things are possible.....
