So... today was full of fail. Test a new max, I think... should be easy, I think... didn't know I was going to fail miserably at 360, then 345... I don't get it, 315 went up like nothing... then fail and fail again... then I pulled 480 off 4" blocks w/o any warmup sets about an hour later... What the fuck is wrong with my squat? how can I be so close to pulling 500 and so far from squatting 405? WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?! ack.. I have failed this smolov cycle. maybe it's just an off day, maybe I'll test again next week... maybe I'm the weakest link on this team.

So, what would you all do if you were me? Do I finish out the remaining portion of the smolov using 315 as my bench mark? do the switching period and repeat the first cycle? or do I try something altogether different and spend some time with lower reps (I was thinking of turning 315 into a 5-10 rep max using density training). Right now I pretty much reak of fail... time for a shower.

My team's the best, we're gonna win, we pwn nubs, you all suck, etc, etc...

Anyway...I'd chalk it up to a bad day. Was your sleep, diet, and mental preparation good? If 315 went up easy, than you be able to ATLEAST grind out 345. Probably was a mental or form issue.

Just out of curiosity...what is your current squat PR?

Top tip - don't make 45lb jumps going after a new max, should've made smaller jumps, soon as you fail a rep, you're gonna have a shit day, mind's no longer in the game.

Do the intensity cycle, keep the same max, spend a shit load of time around 90% of your old max and if you don't improve in another 5 weeks, then you should pretty much just go jump off a bridge.

FRIDAY's TRAINING:

triple at 152.5 (335), followed by two sets of 5 at 145 (319)

gunned for 120 x 5 for 5 sets today. hammered the first 2 sets, by the time the 3rd set came my inner thigh/above knee area was shot. so i pulled out another triple, and 2 sets of doubles. 8 reps short today... not happy

Hey guys sorry i've not been around computer had a shed load of viruses.
As some of you will know i have increased my squat 15kg after the initial phase of smolov.
I am now at 122.5kg this puts me well on target for my attempt at 137.5kg (303lbs) at the end of the intensity phase.
Tonight is the final day of the first week of the intensity phase (the calm before the storm) and will go as follows.

80 kgx4 reps
87.5kgx4 reps
100kgx4 reps x5

Team Pump for the win all the way.
