I would recommend a mix of LSD and HIIT. Since you'll be lifting heavy on the 3 days a week or so that you lift, I would recommend you use the opposite 3 days to do the intense cardio like HIIT (or even two days and 2 days, dont burn yourself out).
Basically it would be like one day, lift/lsd. Next day, HIIT. etc.
Since you want to start training soon I would just lift 2-3 days a week and train 2-3 days a week bjj. It will be MUCH more fun for you and will greatly decrease the chances of burning out. If I were you I would just start training now - theres no time like the present. I know you dont feel like you're in good enough shape to train but you ahve to start sometime.
For me, I graduated college but didnt have a job yet and I hurt myself lifting around the same time. I got into the worst shape of my life, getting up to 270. I thought the same way you did; i.e. I want to get i shape before I start training. Eventually though I just started training and within 5 months or so I lost 55 lbs.
Good luck man.

thanks man, but I won't be able to start training bjj or muay thai until around july when my schedule frees up. It is not only a bjj school, so they have classes specific times of the week

Ha ha I'm not giving you shit man. You asked me a question, I answered. I personally think you will benefit fine at this point from ANY dieting and physical activity. The thing is, you are taking a body building approach to your workout when it's probably not the most efficient way to reach your goals. People here are just trying to get you started on the most efficient routine possible.
You'll see perfectly fine resutls from any real dieting and exercise right now, so I wouldn't stress about the routine too much. Any good routine takes time and personal experimentation, so take your time.

FWIW, if you do start doing a push/pull or 5x5, concentrating on lifting heavy - you will feel better than ever before after your workouts. When you do a max effort day you'll have a huge rush of endorphins after, itll make you feel high lol.

Will-Million - You and I are in the same boat except you are starting from a heavier point than I am. I am also 5'11" and I currently weight 228lbs.
I understand about wanting to change your life, to want to not only feel good about yourself physically, but to also want to improve your overall health.
My main motivation is that my wife and I want to have a child. Right now, it won't happen naturally, but the Dr. wanted me to loose this fat and get down to a more healthy weight as a means to potentially help since artificial means are pretty expensive.
Our next appointment with the specialist is in Aug. which means I have a clearly defined time to push for as part of my motivation. If it helps at all, you have someone there in spirit with you sweating and swearing right along with you.
200lbs is what I am shooting for. I'v come down from 241. I WILL make my goal, and know you can to. If you need any encouragement or motivation, give me a yell...
