What makes this a snatch and not a clean and press? I dont understand :S
The external rotation. In essence a muscle snatch is like a Cuban PP with a snatch grip, or the snatch movement with no catch. That lift was borderline to me, too much press-out, but dude is massively strong and doing it with 160kg and a clean grip.

Yes, you are trying to maximize the involvement of the upper back and shoulders. You are "muscling" it up, for lack of a more enlightening term, rather than exploding it up with hip extension and dropping to catch it.
