I should send you some of the "corporate" letters sent out by upper management, I can't believe a lot of these guys have degrees.

Also, I don't know that I agree with your analysis of oxytocin and testosterone being independent. Two fighters will often hug for long periods after a fight. It may not be the same type of bonding as spooning with a woman, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same chemicals are involved.
Regardless, the brain is a complex beast, and any "simple" explanation for how it works is likely to fall short.

There is a lot that goes into it, agreed. The bond between two fighters (or any competitive male pair) is formed through empathy. Each other can relate to the desire for winning in the other fear, frustration, joy, etc of the competition as different things are tried; sucessfully or unsuccessfully. It doesn't mean that they'll go any lighter on one another, just that men rarely have this level of shared experience. That is why we start Fraternities, Secret Societies, etc. So we have a shared experience; a bond.
As far as on the chemical end, I believe (can't remember the source right now, sorry) that Testosterone goes up somewhat during a competition, but the real spike is afterward when the winner is declared. He gets a massive spike, while the loser may drop some. If the winner is more empathetic, he'll probably be the "Don't worry about it, man. Hang in there, you did good." type of winner, and may be undercutting his testosterone reward. If it was a really close contest that could have gone either way, the winner usually gets a boost, but not nearly as much as a thoroughly dominating victory, and the loser has less of a drop.

Nope. They all got money hungry when their dollar took off. They've got a taste for it now.

I couldn't access sherdog.net all day yesterday. For a while, I thought my overseers managed to uncover my posting habits and blocked the site. Thankfully, I can see it today. whew.

I get wonky reception sometimes at work as well. Lately it's been better though, I think there was a router problem here or something.
I'm actually more productive when it loads quickly because I don't sit there checking for 5 minutes each time a page loads.
