The mad, passionate "I can't live without you" feeling is Dopamine. It is the pleasure/ reward chemical that is released during "non-intimate" sex, normal feeding (esp. carb heavy meals), and when you do anything that the body generally considers "good." (i.e, eat, sleep, fuck).
Withdraeal symptoms: classic drug withdrawal (loss of appeitite, sleeplessness, depression, etc) useally lasts for intense 3-5 minute intervals w/ general discomfort. Pain is felt more acutely as well.
Oxytocin is the bonding chemical. This is much rarer for males, hence the tendency to become addicted to sources of it. It is the "bonding" chemical brought about by phsyical contact with another person. We are are wired to our mothers, and they to us, primarily due to this chemical. Necessary for female orgasm. IS NOT PRODUCED IN A HIGH TESTOSTERONE ENVIROMENT. Test and Oxy are antagonistic to each other. In other words, you'll never bond w/ someone you are trying to dominate.
You can stimulate Oxytocin release in females by:
A lot of skin on skin contact
rubbing the head/ petting hair
saying theri name
hugging for over 15 seconds.

I'm not sure you can break it down to simple chemical reactions. If the body releases dopamine through such a wide variety of sources, then obtaining it from relationships would be unecessary to get the "fix".
Also, I don't know that I agree with your analysis of oxytocin and testosterone being independent. Two fighters will often hug for long periods after a fight. It may not be the same type of bonding as spooning with a woman, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same chemicals are involved.
Regardless, the brain is a complex beast, and any "simple" explanation for how it works is likely to fall short.
