Agreed
If it wasn't for the net I don't know what I'd do here for 95% of my time

I was thinking more along the lines of stone masory or construction, something useful and productive that'll keep me moving all day, but it just won't pay what being a flunky business systems analyst for the corporate machine does. Injustice I tell you.

I would put it in a high yield bank account or invest it.
Its like $5000 a month on a 'ok' interest rate.
I would probably continue to work 30-40 hours a week for a few years while the interested acrude
$5mil...well....its a lot more

You could retire around here with that much. Small homes are cheap as hell. I'm sure there are plenty of other similar places in the US.

I wouldn't move anywhere. I'd stay in my current appartment and work some fun part time gig for the hell of it, bouncer at a strip club, librarian, whatever, and use the rest of my time for myself, studying subjects of interest and training.

My ex GFs dad is a stone mason, but his family owns half of a mountain so his stone is free. He also doesn't do big jobs. Just works for rich people and gets recommended to rich people by other rich people.

Just goes to show you how fucked up the modern world is. Joining the military in the middle of a fucking war seems like a good trade to get away from the pink ties and bullshit smiles at these fucking shithole offices.

You don't have to pay income taxes on interest revenue in the US? 5% interest (which is high for something close to risk-free) on $1,000,000 is $50,000 or around $4,200 per month. In Germany, you'd have to pay your marginal income tax rate onto those earning, which would be around 35%. This leaves you with around $2,700 and no earnings accumulation. Add interest to the equation and you better find a side-job.
