I have a single core 3ghz P4, couple of gb of fast RAM. I've seen no reason to change it.

Good refernce on SC2 though.

Yeh I have the same, I dont play games anymore so I dont even notice that my comp is 'old'. I'll probably have this for another few years, it does everything I need it to so unless it dies or I win the lottery I probably wont be buying a new one anytime soon.

I think the PC games industry has become a joke anyway. When I used to play PC games (about 8-9 years ago) I had a very average PC but I played any game I wanted, and I always bought the magazines and could run all the demos that came on the disks fine. Specs were never a big issue, nowadays an average PC you can probably run 40% of new games at low settings if that. Its ridiculous.

I wanted a rig for a multi media centre for my lounge. With the case (which was by itself £400) it was about £1300, then I wanted a 50 inch plasma.

Oh well, I'll just get the interest on th emoney I saved

Its what happens when advancements come thick and fast

It will probably be at this pace for another 5-10 years or until game designers realise they miss out a huge chunk of the available market but making their games so advanced so quickly. But I doubt from a programmers pov that will ever happen. They always want to push the boundaries (like all good artists).

Ya man, I hear ya. I dl'd the Demos for Bioshock and COD 4 and they wouldn't play. This computer isn't even a year old, and though it's not specifically set up for games, it should still fucking play em. Considering it's almost 3x the price of a PS3.

I think this is actually why the current generation of consoles is so successful.
