People who haven't been exposed to good music seem to think that "playing bass" = root noting. Root noting is not bass playing.

For the most part, alot of the guys who aren't root noters are what I call "bedroom players." You know the type, they can play a lot of cool shit but can't keep a simple 4/4 groove going. It's hilarious.

Yeh thats definately no insult to bass, but you can definately have fun and jam about abit with some basic bass knowledge whereas guitar is pretty boring in the first year or two.

I've only ever played with one bass player. I can't imagine a bass player that can't keep time. I'd probably start throwing sticks at him.
