The heat/cold didn't bother me. After all I spend 11 hours over a stove by choice now days.
What pissed me off, is that my packages loaded per hour was high for a newbie, but you don't actually get rewarded by doing good. If you do good one day you are expected to do better the next day, no matter what, and got yelled at if you didn't, nevermind that I was learning faster than most. The only thing prised was how long you worked there regardless of how good you actually were at your job.

I hear ya dude. The morons I worked with all made more money than me simply because they were there longer, yet they did sweet fuck all. They also had a system going where one of them would show up 2 hours late each day but another guy would swipe their punch card for them so they'd still get paid for the full shift. Not to mention the smoke breaks they would take while we were in the middle of unloading a container.

Seniority is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of no matter that someone is bad at their job they've been here for 10 years lets promote them. Well they've been there for 10 years because they suck at life and can't get another job.
I'm just too much of an individualist for shit like that. If management doesn't see fit to aknowledge that I'm better than 99% of their other employees (I'm not being arrogant, I'm just a fast learner) well then I'm going to take my natural talent for learning new things to someone else, and said employer can go fuck themselves.

Mobil pissed me off like that. My first supervisor worked off merit; he left after a year. The next asshole, he didn't. At the time I smoked cigarettes, and I'd take a smoke break at 9, and at 3. (We worked 6-6). Everyone took off a few min around these hours. I took on the shittiest job there, grease cartridge fill, 60year old machinery that ran half the time and they bitched for numbers. I got back there, got trained, and soon, had it running an average of 400 cases a night, up from an avg of 200. The other crews were avg'ing 200 or so a night; after I fixed a couple things, they were running 300/ night. So leave me the FUCK alone about my smoking- but NOOOO! I had to hear shit about it, taking 10 min to burn 2 smokes. I pointed to my numbers and he said "I don't want to argue about it just cut out the fucking long smoke breaks!" So I quit smoking. I'm trying, really trying. And this little 5'5" motherfucker yells at me again for some procedure, I'd been doing it since I started, to get the grease flowing right so I could crank it up. He bitched about me not following procedure, and I said kinda quietly, 'Yeah, but fuck, thats how I'm getting us our numbers." "WELL I"M GONNA FIRE YOU IF YOU DO IT AGAIN!!"
Ok.
The brakes flew out. The machine messes up- I don't fix it- that's not my job- I shut that fucker down and call Maintenance. Yeah, I got put on shit detail, mopping up while Maint tried to fix teh fucker (no knock against them, but I'm on 12 hours a day- I know it inside and out- it'd take them hours to find and fix something I'd have going in 20 min). Back to 200/day. You wanna bitch munchkin ?

Yeah I sat on my dad's patio and drank a few beers yesterday. I'm debating as to whether or not I should go into the office tomorrow.
