I guess its stupid to act like I do, but then theres rewards. We used to get a lot of pizza from Little Caesars around the corner, and my wife came home one night and said a young boy there, Arthur, was all beat up- his face was all swollen. I drove down there to see- I was in there so much I knew most of the people there- and this kids face had been beaten shut, all puffy. i asked about it, and one girl said 'Yeah, he comes in like that sometimes- his dad does it' I asked her if anyone has called about it- the kid was borderline retarded, functional, not goofy- and she said no, no one has called anyone. I exploded. 'What the fuck is wrong with you people- you know this goes on and you do nothing? whats his info- I'll call myself." They wouldn't give me any info on the kid, so I raised hell till they promised to call the sheriff with his address, family info, etc, and report it. I went back and checked on it- a couple nights later the girl did say she called, and reported it. Over the course of a few weeks, I found that it did get investigated, the kid (18) was moved out of the house into a 'halfway' house for marginally retarded people; and evidently the dad got arrested. I really didn't care about hi, as long as Arthur was ok. And over the course of the next year, he stayed in the halfway house, they helped him save money, show him basic life skills to live on his own, etc.
I mean, if all it takes is a fucking phone call, goddamn people.......

I was reading posts way back Mr. Hunto, about the guy in Best Buy, and you made the right call. Not because the guy was bigger than you, but it's smart to back down when your child is with you.
And I mean specifically for incidents like that, not stuff where you or your child are actually endangered, when of course it's go time.

yeah, can't endanger the Pup. Oddly, on my first date with his Mama in 1983, I had to run from a fight with 3 guys, not only was it a sure loss, but I had Jenny with me! I can pretend to be tough alone, but cannot imperil my date for that shit.

I am weak inherently- I can't live with myself if I don't step in- be it a kid, a woman, an old person, anyone weaker. Why I feel ordained to do this is a job for a psych.......
