JSF should do what the F-16 does and it should do it better. However, it won't be the hottest thing in the skies. That honor goes to the F-22 which was built with air superiority in mind. The US is exporting the JSF, but we're keeping the F-22 to ourselves for the time being.
Preety nice vehicle - I hope they have enough range to protect us aswell, because the Russians will be coming for our oil sooner or later.
I'm not sold on the idea of the JSF project. It seems to me more of a route to cut costs with a standard design as a base for all vehical, which in it self is good. That being said many people, much more knowledgable in the area of air warefare, have said it's just going to result in a lackluster jack-of-all-trades thats not a great air superiority fighter, or a fighter-bomber, and will be easily bested by more specialized weapons. Like if you have a swiss army knife, sure it has a saw, but you'd still be better off using an actual saw.

Ok, paired with the F-22, I feel much better about the JSF project.

Aircraft are pretty much limited by human pilots. To get any more advanced, you have to take the pilot out of the equation. The future is a scary place.

I couldn't even imagine those kind of g's. I like rollercoasters, but I have a hard time even moving my eyes when I'm in one. I'd so blackout in a jet.

A jet is just a jet without the "avionics package". I don't know for certain, but I would imagine that the US will NOT be exporting their "avionics packages" along with the JSF. That would be silly.
If you take the software package out of an airplane....it might as well be a crop duster. I'm exaggerating, of course.
