I'd offer to tend bar, but that would be bad for business.

Haha. Yeah I do want to open my own place one day, but I'm not responsible or experienced enough to do it day in and day out over a long period of time yet. I'd like to be able to have some fun once and a while, my own place pretty much means 90 hour weeks.

That's a big issue with me. My grandpa had his own business and he was always "on the clock". I guess if my business venture fails, I can always fall back on my jazz-dance skills.

Standard,
One of the coolest things about working on airplanes is that after you fix something important, you get to fly in that airplane and make sure it works. It's the ultimate in accountability.

I'd rank it somewhere beneath bomb disarmament.
Only slightly though.

After the military I went to work for a general aviation company. I remember the first time I changed a fuel control on a Bonanza. I told my boss it was good to go and he handed me a clipboard and said, "Go grab a pilot and check it out." I kinda stood there for minute with my mouth open and then walked over to the pilot office and we flew the fucker. It was the first time I'd ever flown in something that I just fixed. Pretty awesome feeling.
You have to be confident in your own ability as a mechanic to do that. But those EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) guys are down right crazy.
