Ya, the "better the vodka" the more it tastes like water.
I still like it though, mainly for it's diversity.

I disagree donut, the point of high end vodka is that it poisons you less and you feel better the next day. For that purpose, Gray Goose is excellent. Belvedere for whatever reason I' not a fan of. Russian pepper vodka is fun stuff though, as is Russian Standard.
. The same to some degree is true of tequila, though it gets better tasting with higher quality. Best tequila I've ever had was an El Tesoro Paradisio, fucking unreal.
