It's only horrific if you assume that breeding at the burden of others and the detriment of the human race in general is a right... It's one of those things where there's no middle ground and there never will be.

Having a safety net is fine, and is indeed desirable. For example, I don't believe that in England people genuinely unable to work should starve to death. However, everyone able to work should be attempting to. Its not impossible for the population to have the attitude that they would rather work than scrounge. Indeed, that was the purpose of the welfare state in the first place, and that attitude did endure for a while after its introduction.
No, Saith, I don't feel any better, I'd still be better off on benefits than trying to work at my current wage level. A quarter of my wage, nearly, goes for taxes, I end up with the same net as if I had skillfully worked the benefit system.

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic...If not, scroll down in your PM inbox to where it says "move to folder." Between that and forum jump is a link to download your PM's in several formats. It is on the right hand sid eof the screen.

Same here man. It's just a reality of the world we live in, and it's only going to get worse.

Sean: Hey, Gerry, In the 1960's there was a young man that graduated from the University of Michigan. Did some brilliant work in mathematics. Specifically bounded harmonic functions. Then he went on to Berkeley. He was assistant professor. Showed amazing potential. Then he moved to Montana, and blew the competition away.
Lambeau: Yeah, so who was he?
Sean: Ted Kaczynski.
Lambeau: Haven't heard of him.
Sean: Hey, Timmy!
Tim: Yo.
Sean: Who's Ted Kaczynski?
Tim: Unabomber.
