The entire concept of randomness is really a fallicy. Every event in our world has an underlying probability, linked to cause and effect. That being said The purpose of "randomness" is often to fairly pick a item/person/number/card, etc. out of a set according to it's population compared to the group, without predesignating the said result. In that sense it does exist, however the tools we use to do this will always be imperfect, because true randomness does not actually exist.
