Just to save games, save map packs online, you can DL movies and TV shows, trailers, basically anything you can DL takes up the space. I got the 60, I'm not sure how much space I have left though. Remind me tomorrow and I will check.

Gamestop.com - Buy Sony PlayStation 3 40GB - Playstation 3

40gb has HDMI. It does not have backwards compatibility with PS2 games, and has some other missing things like extra USB ports and some stupid card reader.

The hard drive is for installing games (some require it), for downloading games (some games are available as downloads), and you can put your own movies and music on it.

I read on a website, I believe IGN or gamespot, that it doesn't have true HDMI. What does that mean? I have no idea, but I don't want anyone messing with my HDMI is all I know.

Zero, I'd still say get the 60GB. If money is a factor, wait a couple weeks before buying it.

Most likely It pumps out a lower quality signal through an HDMI cable, so it works with new HD tvs, but doens't cost as much.
