Well, I work with all women, and they know I'm a powerlifter, but they don't really care, obviously. So I don't have to explain it to them.
Pretty much everyone else I hang around when I'm (mostly) sober is or was a fairly serious lifter.

The average person has no desire to lift weights actually the average person does whatever they can to avoid lifting things, it's sad really.

I love telling people when I do either strongman or use the sandbag or the sledge and tire. They're faces drop. I just crack up.

I accepted a long time ago, that there's no use in trying to explain to people if they don't "get it". No matter how uninformed a person has, there is always a mentality from the very beginning that separates the men from the boys. Lifting might not be as harsh as fighting, but it hurts and requires more mental capabilities than most folks could even begin to comprehend.
Plus, most good lifters have weird problems that make them excel. Like, I'm self destructive and beating the dog shit out of myself with heavy weights is just me sublimating my freaky desires.

What's a good guide for where to put your hands for snatch grip deadlifts?

If I pull 740, I will be just a hair over a 3XBW deadlift.

I've basically given up talking to people about weight training, getting in shape or whatever. I have enough people ask me where i work out etc at work and blah blah blah but i'm not going to waste my time telling them what i do or what will help them. I've been down that road far too many times and the result is always the same, shit is too hard so they quit. Same reason there about about a million diet pills and cheap gimmicks out there to make "getting in shape" easy.
