He's amazed by the way the grip stuff is now. Like, the idea that there are places like FBBC that sell shitloads of steel to bend.
The other cats that were there are total grip nerds.

I first met Don when I was 19. He's the cat who certed me on the #3. Because he knows Strossen, of course.
I went down there now and then for a while, but then you know, the craziness happened. So it was kind of a homecoming. I just chilled, drank beer and smoked with the old man and listened to all his awesome fucking stories.

That's fucking badass dude. Now that I think about it I remember in your picture thread you had a picture with him, but I thought he was your grandfather lol. 'Grandpa Grip Pimp' I believe it was.

Well, he is.
He and his wife are real cool people, I felt like family over there and I haven't seen them in a couple years.

That's awesome. I talk about grip training at work and everyone looks at me like I'm retarded. I just want one person to talk to about lifting in person, that's all, I'm not greedy.

Yeah we talked about that. There were four of us guys, and then Don and his wife. All of us lifters. We all agreed it was best not to talk about lifting with "normals", especially not the more unusual aspects.
Don says back when people pretty much thought you were a total freak for bending horseshoes and 80d nails and whatnot. Or even just deadlifting.

I always wonder what random people think when they enter my secret basement lifting chapel. It seems normal to me. Lots of dudes I know have home gyms. A lot of them more extensive than mine, and I got a fair amount of shit.
So when the meter man comes, or a guy repairs my hot water heater, what do they think of my basement cluttered with bars, plates, racks, benches, grip toys? It must be insane. Most "homegyms" are some gay multi machine or just a bench.

LoL People still think that. My boss goes to the gym constantly but only jogs on the elliptical for 45 minutes at a time, and then does a few minutes on the incline treadmill to 'work his arms'. That's it. I love telling him the shit I do.
