I've done a lot of wrestling and a bit of grappling and don't consider either one of them fighting. It's part of fighting, but not fighting. You could make the same arguement for boxing/MT/any other art that doesn't include a ground game, but since I suck at boxing, I'll leave that to the people that know what they're talking about.

I posted earlier today that talking about MMA in the heavy weight forum should be a bannable offense because no one there seems to know anything about it.

Spend five minutes on the ground with Zop and tell me grappling isn't fighting.
Assuming he isn't going for the bottom position that is.

I try to stay out of this kind of arguement because by this defention all of the fights except 1 I witnessed growing up (save ones on tv) were just guys doing cardio and not really hurting each other.

I realize this and I apologize if I haven't articulated my point well. I'm looking at it only from the stand point of inflicting damage. I'm not trying to argue about how "safe" one is, if it is or isn't fighting, etc. I mearly wanted to express why I feel an increased sense of urgency in a situation when the threat of being struck is present.
