People still manage to do it here, but the worst case scenario? You flunk out of school with a mountain of student loans and other debt. At a certain point you HAVE to move out though, but i say milk it while you can, especially in a place like Vancouver where cost of living is so ridiculous.

I lived in dorms and off-campus apartments. Granted, I went to school several hours away from my family, regardless, moving out was the greatest thing I'd ever done. Even when I moved back down to SoCal and was going to school here, I still took out loans to live away from them. So fucking worth it.

Kaboom, I moved out when I was 17 and was still in High school. I really wish I had the chance to stay and save cash. A lot of my friends did, and when they DID move out a few years later it was with a car, a dp on a house and a good job. Living with the family is ok when your 21, small sacrifice.

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that the route I took is in anyway preferential to the one you're taking. I turn 30 this year and I'm STILL in school.

But to me, it was worth it.
