Been a bit since I rewatched UFC 63, but if memory serves, it was a simple, step-in right cross right through Ruediger's guard that got him.

True enough. Ruediger looked like any other UFC debut when he stepped in against Guillard: decent record in smaller shows, only recent loss was against an established fighter, etc. Body-blow knockouts are about as rare in MMA as they are in boxing, though, and rightly or wrongly, there's a bit of stigma attached to them, I think. Maybe not quite like tapping to strikes, but something thought to point to a weakness as a fighter.
Then he failed to make weight and cried on camera during TUF, neatly nailing his coffin shut. Ruediger has a long road to walk if he's ever going to step on a big stage again.

Haven't you heard? The Missus is getting back into boxing: that isn't reach we're dealing with there, that's SPEED, baby.

1408 was pretty good, I thought. Read the short story after I saw the movie; it, too was okay, but didn't add anything to the story. One of the rare examples of the movie being better than the original, I think.
As for being mugged, fighting back, etc: I'm not going to fight for the cash in my wallet and the inconvenience of canceling credit cards. I am willing to fight for not living somewhere where some ass with a weapon thinks he can take what he wants, and for whoever they'd go after next. I'm a lightweight by S&P standards, but I'm also a tall, unfriendly-looking man more or less in his prime. If some crazed bastard is willing to go after me for loose change, I don't want to know what would happen when they go after someone more vulnerable than I am.
At least, that's what I feel. Don't know what would happen in the unlikely event said mugging would actually occur. I've hesitated out of fear before in my life (buliding fire); not happy about it, but it's true. Don't know if it would happen again or not. Suppose I won't know if I'll pass until that particular test comes 'round again. *shrug*

Hesitation is a powerful thing...the shame can drive an otherwise rational man to destroy the witness (assailant).

I'd probably shit myself if someone pointed a gun at me. That happened once back when I was about 8. My friend pointed his dad's rifle at me. Luckily, I wasnt a gun accident statistic, but I am pretty sure that if someone with a gun wanted my wallet, i would give them my wallet.

It was two. One, then 10 seconds later another.
