In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Office of Emergency Management has issued this Safety Alert.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, a male student reported to UK Police that he had been robbed at the corner of University Drive and Complex Drive. The victim stated that he walked passed three males standing in the area and was struck from behind and knocked to the ground. The victim stated that one suspect implied the three individuals had weapons and demanded his valuables. He surrendered his wallet and cell phone. The suspects then fled eastbound on Complex Drive in a small to mid-sized SUV.

All three suspects are male; two are believed to be African American, a description of the third is unknown.

UK Police offer the following safety precautions:
* Carry a cell phone or other personal safety device.
* Do not travel alone after dark; always walk with a friend or with a group.
* Always be aware of your surroundings and what other people around you are doing.
* Request an escort by calling the UK Campus Escort Program "SafeCats" at 323-FREE (323-3733) or UK Police at 257-1616.
* Request taxi service through UK Genesis "Taxicats" at 381-1010.
* Park only in well-lit areas.
* If you see anyone acting suspicious, go to the nearest phone and call 911 or use your cellular phone by dialing #UKPD (#8573).

If you are accosted, COMPLY with the demands of your assailant and report the incident immediately to UK Police by dialing 911 or #UKPD (#8573) from a cell phone.

If you have been a victim of violence, please contact the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Center for confidential services, support and referrals. (859) 257-3564.
