Umm... the link has "This article is a FAKE and is not from BBC. This article was posted to TURF and since then, this link has spread and the forum is drowning in the extra bandwidth. I suggest you read this for the message by the original author of this article and purchase one of the T-Shirts to thank him for this article. I added the Google Ads to support the extra hits chewing up the bandwidth. Please do NOT click on them if you are not interested in their products." in a big banner accross the top.
Just an FYI.

You thought Cambodia had the economy, infrastructre, and population to support a league of 42 fighting midgets?

I don't think that Big Nog vs. Couture was ever really in the works, but I think it was inevitable had Couture stayed with the UFC. Nog's debut against friggin' Herring was bad, but it wouldn't take him but another fight or two to be back in form and in title contention. From the talk after Sylvia/Vera, it sounds like he might be in title contention already.
I'm pretty damned sure that Couture didn't leave the UFC to duck a fight with anyone, and am inclined to take his resignation letter at face value: he wanted Fedor, Zuffa couldn't deliver, and he was tired of dealing with Zuffa's management.
I'd just really hoped to see that fight from the day that Nog signed with Zuffa. I think of Randy and Rodrigo as mirror images, really: switch the words "wrestling" and "BJJ" and you could use the same descriptions for both of them. I think it really would have been a fight for the ages. Now, barring something unforseen, it won't come to pass. Poor me.

Thank God that link was fake. I have maintained for quite some time that a significant number of midgets could take a lion. We discussed this at my old job (university research FTW) and I was all for the midgets.

Maybe. Nog has about as spotless a record as you'll find at the high end of MMA: never been stopped, fought just about every top HW Pride had to offer, and really only ever lost to Fedor (it's hard for me to take the RINGS loss seriously, and avenging two split-decision losses with far more decisive wins goes a long way in my book). Still, it's hard to fault Couture for not sticking around for a former champion when the current champion was getting away from him.
I'm pretty sure that we will see Couture/Fedor sometime in 2008: I'll settle for that.

Oh come ON... it's a fucking LION... no reasonable number of midgets are going to take it down. You'd need to literally bury and smother it in midgets, and that would be bad news for all the midgets on the bottom of the pile, too.
Unless all 40+ midgets are dumped simultaneously on top of the lion via crane/dumptruck/whatever, they have no chance. Lion via T(KO) (savage mauling).

I don't see Dana releasing Couture from the contract though. Only chance is if Fedor comes to the UFC for the fight, because part of his M-1 contract was he can do cross promotional fights I believe.
