Haven't you seen 300? It's the same thing. Spearmen can take out anything, and they can withstand the archers until they run out of ammo. Just get a few catapults to destroy theirs.

Or, you could be some elephants (think, tank formations). You could build spearmen (defensive). And something else (offensive of some type). I don't know the game.
