Wouldn't it be more beneficial to do an entire strength routine followed by an entire power routine?

Personally, I found dumbell lifts translated better for "MMA strength." The awkwardness they present was closer to another human. So I like to do dumbell cleans, two dumbell cleans, and what have you.

You mean periodize it?

Also incorporate plenty of grip work and thickbar work. Gorilla grip in grappling ftw

I really need to join a real gym again. I would >definitely< do Ross' strength workouts if I had heavy DB's, but my DB's only go up to 52.5lbs.

No I mean stick to one routine until completion (i.e. BS5x5) then going to the other routine until you finish it (whatever power routines there are).

You can buy a dumbell handle for about $5 bucks and 120 pounds of plates for maybe around $50 or less. You could fit that in a corner in your house and drag them out whenever.

All I have is olympic weights for our barbells. Will that fit on a $5 DB handle?

I don't think so. You need olympic dumbells that have 2'' ends. Otherwise the weights will most likely slid onto the grip space, thusly smashing your fingers/hand.

That's a form of periodization.

My close friend belongs to a gym, I may start working out with him there. They have a very nice power rack, heavy DB's, a 'karate' section with a mat and heavy bags (I could use for sparring), a huge pullup/dip station, and a place to do face pulls, core work, COC's, and a back extension....and almost no one goes there. It's awesome.
