It's amazing how much we take for granted. I mean, I eat nice meals, have electricity, clean water, a car, a nice house, boats, etc. And yet I always want more. While guys like you in A'stan are carrying 75lb+ rucks through the Hindu Kush and getting shot at. Sort of related, but was the op tempo high in Afghanistan for you guys? Also, what were the sleeping arrangements (sounds weird, but you mention wanting to sleep in clean sheets, just curious what your arrangements were).

most of our orders were time sensitive.. The more OPSEC involved, the higher the OPTEMPO.
I was part of a recon/scout (more realistically a modern day LRRP) so we were stuck sleeping in some pretty shitty areas. Fire base this and fire base that, under the stars, upright in cars...you name it..

Yeah... having a third sticky in here is kind of odd. I mean, Graedy's log has been at the top of every page in the training logs section for... umm... two days longer than forever, I think. Stickying the OT thread isn't a bad idea, but from past performance of such threads, I'd imagine that it would stay towards the top of the subforum just from posting activity. Bah. Change is unavoidable, I suppose, and isn't always bad.

Dearest Bama,
In some ways, you are wise beyond your years, but sometimes, I think you're the dumbest smart kid I e-know. You struck an information gold mine when you started posting in the S&P. You have access to some really smart people in this forum who have been where you are now, and where you're going to be in the future.
I'm an idiot. This is well known throughout the land. BUT, I've always been good at one thing....and that one thing is taking sound advice from people wiser than myself. My grandfather used to say, "You have to learn from other people's mistakes, cause you'll never have time to make them all yourself." So when we're giving you shit, it's probably for a good reason. Younggunz was right on about infatuation. Enjoy your youth, man. Don't be in a hurry to find a relationship. You've got decades and decades left for that shit.
