Playing a single instrument while the rest of the noise comes from a prerecorded track is not the work of a band. 99% of the "music" in the top 100 list is not made by musicians.
I fucking hate pop and hip hop.
MM, I swear to Oden that I'm going to fuck you up if you don't stop your Alicia Keys nonsense.

And that's where the similarities stop.

I was a big fan of Tool's Opiate album. But the rest are meh. I like a lot of punk, so as a rule, any song over 2.5 minutes is generally considered self indulgence.
The beatles were excellent musicians, and so are the members of tool. But I wouldn't pay to see either of them.

If I was going to liken Tool to any band prior, it would be Zepplin. But I would actually pay to see Zepplin.

Tool is great to see live, if you like heavier music and intense visuals to go along with it. I doubt anyone will know who Tool was 10 years from now though, but they'll still be talking about the Beatles in 100.

I never really listened to Tool, but there are certainly worse bands out there.
