Well some people see those sort of rituals as personally carthartic, and so it's succesful whether or not the expected outcome actually occurs. But that's the cop-out answer, the better answer is there's no real difference, except what this has on prayer, is you get to be secretive about it, and pretend you're lording things over people who don't know any better. For the most part.
But I'm with ya there. Plus, if I did care to have a chat with some wild Enochian angels or something, I'd definately do it from the comfort of my bedroom, with a maximum of 1 other drug user in the vicinity. It would definately not be with nerdy dudes at their Grotto meeting.

I wouldn't suggest reading online to learn about anything related to Satanism though. In fact, as a Satanist I am staunchly against reading things other people have written. So if it seems like I'm responding directly to your statements, it's a huge fucking coincidence.
