Psychological damage could pay well too. The thought of your wife dying in the car has to be worth a couple grand. My neighbor threatened to sue in me in a letter she wrote during a drunken tirade. Something about my dog's barking causing mental damage and she was going to sue for it.
She apologized a week later. But damn she is a crazy bitch.
