I need to perform some 'bird control' around here- I have an old Wrist Rocket slingshot, needs new bands, saw those and 3/8 ball bearing ammo the other night at Walmart.
Opinions-
Slingshot, BB gun, or pellet gun? I can get a plain BB gun for around $20. Pellet guns are 30. Slingshot is the cheapest, but the ammo is a giveaway on a miss- 5/16 or 3/8 balls are easy to spot, bbs/pellets aren't, and will embed in the tree usually anyway. I grew up with the slingshot, and so have good aim with it. BB/pellet- a gun's a gun, I have good aim.
Problem birds-
Woodpecker knockknockknock
Blue Jay KIIIIII KIIIIIIII KIIIIII loud as fuck
unknown PEE PEE PEE at about 14k hz..... fucking PIERCING when you're outside
exempt birds -
*Cardinal or Red Bird- beautiful. There's a couple when the fucking bluejays don't scare them off.
*BlueBird. Different than the Jay, not mean tempered, pretty.
*Robins
basically if it doesn't bug the fuck out of me when I'm outside it lives, squirrels too- they're so used to humans they don't run when you walk out. I leave peanuts on the fence sometimes for them.
Also the bb/pellet gun/slingshot would be good for the snakes in the canal, or when one gets up into the yard- cement-sided canal, they crawl up. And frogs too, buy the hundred- all night you hear them- BEEK BEEK BEEK BEEK. Little ones size of a pinky nail up to 4" long or so- not bullfrogs, smaller.
