Zop is ultra-gay.

Does anyone have training partners when they lift weights? Ive always lifted alone, I suppose theyre handy for things like bench press but I prefer training alone for the rest of the stuff.

What was everyones first experience with weights? (maybe make a thread in the main if anyone can be bothered)

My first routine was training in my room with a cheap barbell and cement weight set. I went on exrx and it recommend to do Full Body and it listed all the body parts and I clicked on each one and chose an exercise. So my routine was something like:

Squats
Deadlifts
Overhead Press
Stiff Leg Deadlifts
Barbell Rows
Upright Rows
Pushups (I didnt have a bench so I did pushups instead)
Curls

I think I did 3 sets of 8-12 doing 12 on the first then 10 then 8.

Then I joined the Uni gym about 9 months ago and did Rippetoes 3x5 for abit then flirted around with some other routines and then realised I hate routines and now I just go to the gym and do what I want.

Back before soccer was cool, I played soccer. Oh wait, never mind, it's still not cool. Anyway my first year, when I was one of the skinniest people in the universe, one of the seniors who was kind of the Enforcer showed me how to do some stuff in the weightroom. Mainly though it was bench press, shoulder press and leg press on the universal.

I first lifted freshman year of high school football. It would be another almost 10 years before I learned to lift properly.

I fucking hate that. I would be so strong right now if I had known what I was doing and had worked half as hard as I do now on a consistent basis since I was in high school.

Yeah, I've done some crazy stuff. It usually ended in me quickly stalling out and losing interest only to start trying to lift again a few months later. I could write a couple paragraphs on my lifting history, but the only stuff that really matters is from fall 2005-on. Even then, once I graduated I completely stalled out again for a few months and didn't start up seriously until summer 2007.

I first got a small crappy bench from walmart and a small and skinny straight curling bar with like 60 lbs of weight back in like sophomore year of high school. Separated by body parts using my crappy equipmen through high school. Come college I worked out at the uni gym still doing the same crappy body split routine. Did that for a whole year than during winter of my second year me and my buddy joined bally's and went almost every day for a whole month doing crappy bb stuff. never did a squat or deadlift either. Actually made a lot of size gains during that month. Then at the end of my second year, which is just about a year ago I discovered the S&P and Starr's 5x5 and have never been the same. Since then I bought an olympic sized barbel from walmart plus like 235 lbs of weight. Still have the same bench which I use if I need to workout at home. Right now my main priorities is to figure out a way to squat heavy at home.
